Ensemble provides the skills needed to learn to play the piano at a highly functional level in the shortest amount of time possible. Along with an engaging repertoire, which is sophisticated and challenging, the manual includes important experiences in theory, harmonization, score reading, improvisation, and accompanying. The tools for these skills, often not included in other books because of their difficulty, are presented in a practical, fun, and versatile way. These skills contribute to a well-balanced experience that meets the needs of those who play other instruments as well as beginners in piano who wish to move beyond the basics. While all of the music can be played individually, the concept of “playing partners” adds enjoyment and energy by allowing each example to be played as a duet or ensemble.
